The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) announced in March of this year that “food loss and waste accounts for about 10% of the world’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and there is an urgent need to reduce it.
According to data from the World Resources Institute (WRI), airplanes emit only 1% of the world’s GHGs, while food loss and waste accounts for 8-10%, almost as much as automobiles.
